Crompton Park is loaded with amenities: two ball fields, a basketball court, a swimming pool, a playground, tennis courts, and walking paths!
This park is named after the Crompton Family, who owned one of the largest loom manufacturing businesses in the country, located in the Green Island Neighborhood. The Crompton Family owned much of the land around their factory and the city purchased the land between Quinsigamond and Millbury Streets from the family in 1888.
Crompton Park is historically one of Worcester’s busiest parks, as all of the laborers who lived around the factories would go to the park in droves for leisure or sport.
