Did you know?

Elm Park is the most sought after park in Worcester for exchanging wedding vows.

Welcome to the new site! If any of you saw the old Park Spirit site you know it was in need of an overhaul, and a serious one at that! Well I am happy to rollout this new site just in time for Spring! Special thanks to Rick and Tim. It has been months in the making, but my vision is to create a site that represents Park Spirit's goals and to foster support for our local parks. In addition, I want to create a "one-stop shop" resource for the citizens of Worcester to find, guess what, a park. Let me explain. Perhaps the best resource for finding Worcester's parks (besides Google Maps) is Worcester City's official Parks and Recreation web site, and with all due respect it is not that comprehensive.

For me, questions arise such as:

  • Where exactly is that park located?
  • Does it have tennis courts?
  • Where do I park?
  • Are there any wooded hiking areas?
  • Where are the pictures?!

Get out there and use them

Plus, wouldn't it be great to know when and where Worcester park activities were taking place throughout the year. Worcester Parks truly have a lot to offer, from lush golf courses to free concerts, but I believe our parks are underutilized and under appreciated (did you know that Bancroft Tower is on the National Register of Historic Places) and in a time of urban sprawl, green spaces are more important than ever. I have lived in Worcester county almost all of my life and I am still discovering new parks, which I suppose is both bad and good (Greenwood Park? Who knew? Not me until a month ago). Soon this site will help answer all your park questions, but in the meantime go discover some on your own.

Regards,
Benjamin
